Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?

Matthew 7: 7-9 NKJV

There was a boy playing in the sandbox, when he came across a rock in the sandbox. He tried to pull it out but couldn’t. As he huffed in frustration, his father came out and watched him. After a few pulls barely loosened the rock, the boy tried digging the rock out. He realized that the rock was a big rock as he dug around it. He dug one side till he got to the bottom of the rock. Finally, the boy was able to put his hands underneath the rock and lift it with all his might. It started moving out of the sand, but the rock was big and heavy. His arms shook and the rock fell from his grip, scratching his finger.

The son cried and went to his father who was running to him. He showed his father his cut, crying because it hurt and the rock was still in the sandbox. As his father wiped and cleaned the wound, he asked his son why he didn’t use all his strength. The boy angrily replied he did. The father gently corrected him and said he didn’t. His father had been waiting for the boy to ask for help, because the father’s strength was his if he asked. The boy blinked as his father wiped his tears with a smile. Then the boy nodded and asked his dad to help him. His dad did. Together, they lifted the rock out of the sandbox.

Alpha Bible Studies

I heard this story in Bible study and it really resonated with my spirit. Remember to use all of your strength. Ask for help. Look to God and remember that He is always there waiting for you.
