She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.

Proverbs 31:25 NLT

Thank you for reading my poetry posts! It was a journey making them. The artistry of words mixed with the tool of sound, wrapped up in lyrical formatting, it was amazing to dive into that new difficult process. Which brings me to today’s post….I did something new again! I tried to do fashion drawing!

TA-DA!

Now why and how did this drawing came to be? Funny story…it all started with imagining the perfect wedding. Now, I’m not the most romantic person I know, but I have a few nuggets of ideas. One of them being that it would be cute to have a Nutcracker themed wedding, and the wedding dress cloud look like Marie’s (Clara depending on the version) dress. It could symbolize that little girl finally getting her prince and growing up. Then the reception dress could be based off of the Sugar Plum Princess design. But I didn’t get that far. Still, this brought up something in my mind.

One of the reasons I love the Nutcracker is that at the end, anything can happen. Does she continue to be a girl who dreams? Does she grow up? Does she become a ballerina? We don’t know, and that’s okay. To me, the story isn’t about the future. It’s not about what happens, but what is happening. The Mouse King is after the Nutcracker now, they defeat him now, they see the kingdom’s dances now. The story is in the present. Marie isn’t scared of the future because she is in the present.

The future is something we dream of. Sometimes we have this idea of what it would look like, of what would make it perfect. This vision of the future we try and strive to make a reality. But that’s all it is, an idea. Just like this drawing is just a drawing. I did put time and effort into it, but it’s not a real dress. Just an idea of one. There is no shape or form to it, and it’s not even a professional design. This drawing is a dream for something that might happen in a totally different way. It’s all an idea. But ideas have power. They make us feel things, see things, hear things, ideas can drive us. Ideas can become our god.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV

Our dreams and ideas of the future can drive us, and they will drive us away from God. Our God who is the God of yesterday, tomorrow, and now. He rules them all. Don’t let an idea or dream (fear or nightmare as well) of the future drive you. Give it to your God of tomorrows. Don’t let the ideas (habits or thought processes) that were cemented in your past drive you. Give them to your God of yesterdays. Let Him be the God of your now.

Dreams are nice, but they’re just an idea. My God is so much better than nice, and He is real. He makes my future now. What are you letting Him do in your now?
