So I watched the new Superman movie (a n enjoyable comic book movie). But as I was watching, something caught my attention. Superman needed sanctuary to heal. A place where he could be at peace while he received what he needed. And of course he has his Fortress of Solitude, but that wasn’t the sanctuary he needed. He needed his home, his family, he needed to heal his heart as much as his body.
And after watching the movie this piece settled into my heart:
Carry, Carry, Carry
The weight, the responsibility,
It is what you are supposed to do.
Keep going and it will go away,
maybe.
Bury, Bury, Bury,
The pain, the hurt, the ache is never ending.
Maybe this will ease it or that will help you,
Just temporary relief and no escape,
maybe.
Scary, Scary, Scary,
The anger, bitterness, and fear are normal.
To yell and judge and fight until you are fake.
The fated crash will hurt less if you are fake,
maybe.
All is Ordinary,
Everyone does this and expects it of you.
This is the normal way and what you have known.
This is what makes everything comfortable.
maybe.
Come to Sanctuary,
Leave all your worries and your weights at the door.
The ground you buried can be tilled and renewed.
Accept the power, love, and peace given Here.
There are no maybes Here.
Only what you allow.
“And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.” -Exodus 25:8 NKJV
So, when’s the last time you sought Sanctuary?
