“As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man.” Proverbs 27:19
So the reason I haven’t been able to post recently, I got Pink Eye. Well eyes, it got into both of them. For about a good two weeks. I tried to keep going, to keep moving, but it wasn’t helping.
Then for New Year’s I went home. My mom used an old school method, tea bags. Put warm wet tea bags on my eyes. I was fine with that, except I had to lay there with something over my eyes for eight minutes (and that was just for one eye!). So as I laid there for twenty minutes, blinded, God brought to my remembrance Paul. How he wasn’t blinded when killing Stephen. He was blinded on his going.
God stopped Paul on his going because that was when he was willing to face that he could turn around.
At first I was like, cool. I got it God. Just wait for the eyesight to come back. So I did wait. Taking the time to heal, let my eyes go back to normal.
While doing that, I watched some Sonic the hedgehog movies and shows (particularly Sonic Prime on Netflix and Sonic 3). A constant struggle of Sonic’s is that he is constantly moving. Yes, it is his greatest gift (gotta go fast) but it would quickly become his hindrance. He would go and go, not listening to anyone, not stopping, almost losing himself in the process.
Going, going, going, is not doing, doing, doing or being, being, being.
Many times we tell ourselves that if we just make it or just do this, it will be fine. It’s going to be okay. It’s what we do! At least, that’s what I tell myself. Just like Sonic. “I’m the fastest hedgehog in the world! Gotta go fast!”
God was telling me, “while that’s what you do, it’s not what I do.”
Just like Paul, I found myself asking, “Who are you God?“
“The One you are hurting. And in doing so, hurting yourself.”
Ouch. But the thing is, just like water, we can’t see clearly until the water is still. We can’t see what we’re doing clearly until we are still in God.
So as we continue to grow this New Year, don’t run into it. Remember to take time to be still in God. He’s the only way to clearly see what you’re doing and who you are. He is the way!
