Hey everyone! I recently just finished this really cute Disney Princess devotional series by Little Faith Blog (check her out HERE). And then I was talking to God about how cool it would be if there was a series like that talking about other women in Pop Culture and them being warriors or heroes while also talking about Biblical women of the Bible. So God said: “That’s sounds great, do it!”

Yeah…it wasn’t exactly what I wanted to hear but it was what I needed to hear. So here we are with the start of this Warri-Hers series. I know the name is cheesy but it was the first thing that came to mind.

We will be going in depth on Ephesians 6:10-18, and look at woman in the Bible as well as famous female characters. Learning how each of them are a warrior and learn how to become a God warrior ourselves. I pray that as we go through this series, we all can glean something from this series, but most importantly God’s word.

Now let’s begin!

Day 1: Eve and Lois

In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might.

Ephesians 6:10 AMP

Scriptures: Ephesians 6:10; Genesis 3:16, 3:20, 4:25-26; 1 Timothy 2:13-15

My Adventures with Superman
(Season 1, Episode 5)

Starting off on our Warri-hers series, I wanted to talk about our chain of command. For every soldier, every warrior, has a chain of command or a cause that they are dedicated to fighting for. A soldier, a warrior without a cause or command, is just a fighter looking to fight or a person avoiding their responsibilities to submit.

Being a warrior is hard. A warrior has to continually submit to being in a chain of command and having a commander. They accept this submission despite the judgement and ridicule of others. Two women I’ve noticed who have to deal with such submission are Eve and Lois Lane.

The one thing I find very similar to Eve and Lois Lane is their ability to be overshadowed. And yes they can easily be overshadowed by the men in their lives (Adam being the first man and Superman/Clark Kent being one of the most powerful beings alive). But they can also be overshadowed by mistakes, whether they are their own or not.

I have heard many Christian people point to 1 Timothy 2:13-15 to point out that Eve sinned first. I have heard an argument between Superman and Batman being the best and it was stated that Batman had better love interests because Superman would drop everything for Lois Lane and she has to get saved so much. I will admit, it was easy for me to agree. To write and overshadow their stories with these judgments.

But here’s the thing about God. He’s mercy and truth. He covers people, not overshadows them. Submitting to God comes with letting go of a lot of things. One of the biggest things being the fear of being overshadowed. Overshadowed by what is over us, our mistakes, our failures, our sins, the secret things that we keep hidden, etc. But God cannot cover us if we are not courageous enough to let go of those things and that fear. Because while the world may try to shadow, darken, us with those things, God will not. He died and beat death just to free YOU from those shadowy things.

Lois Lane chooses to stay with Superman not just because she knows who he is but she also knows who she is. She is confident that people can call her Superman’s Love Interest, but Clark calls her Lois Lane, a Pulitzer winning investigator for truth. Adam named Eve after she had made her mistake. People can blame the state of the world on her all they want but she is still called the mother of life and that blame is not going to change the world.

What will change the world? Warriors who submit and stay in God’s command. Why? Because with God covering us, who can stand against us?  With God covering us, we can be strong and powerful in Him. With God covering us, we can be His courageous warriors and love as He does.

How has God covered and protected you before? How is God trying to cover and protect you today?
