What is the difference between wishing and wanting?
Is it that wishing has our heads upwards,
Blinding us with glittering starlight amongst the vast night,
Never truly looking to define what’s within and what’s within our might?
Is it that wanting has our eyes outwards,
Feeling some emptiness at every scent, touch and sight,
Unable to fill that gaping hole that consumes all but starves in spite?
Is it that wishing is a child’s word,
Being left behind as we let go of what hinders our fight,
Cause the weak can’t survive and win in this life, right?
Is it that wanting is a flung sword,
Defending and offending all who use it and hold it tight,
Cause the purpose of anyone who draws a sword is to smite?
But scary than all that,
What if there’s no difference at all?
Cause wishing and wanting,
Answer our hearts' call.
What is your heart calling?
“As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man.”
Proverbs 27:19
